Kathmadu, :Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli asserted that

problems related to teachers should be resolved through dialogues.

Addressing the 23rd National Council’s meeting of the Nepal National Teachers’ Association here today, PM Oli said that the teachers had played an “important” role in educating the students as well as contributed in various political changes of the country.

Oli said, “The teachers’ problems should be resolved through mutual dialogues”, adding that the government should oppress neither any teacher nor any citizen. According to him, the erstwhile governments had accused the teachers for politicizing and thus had been piling pressure on them.

The Head of the Government urged the teachers to confidently engage in teaching-learning activities and contribute to build social awareness, stating that the situation now has changed for good.
He assured that the incumbent government was ready to make legislation and acts related to education and related employees relevant and overhaul them if need be.

“Those who did not understand the role of teachers and politics had attempted to impose one-sided oppression on the teachers in the past. They even declared they had separated teachers from politics. It was an attempt to tarnish the teachers. All those efforts were wrong,” the septuagenarian leader opined.

Oli, also the Chairperson of CPN (UML), argued, “Since the time of Aristotle and Plato, it has been clear that man is a political animal. Hence, the incumbent government does not see any reasons to be hostile towards teachers. It is sufficient if teachers discharge their duties and fulfill their responsibilities honestly.”
The PM further asserted that teachers should contribute towards reforms of society.
