BRI benefits South Asian people: Chairman Dahal

Kathmandu, Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the belt and road initiative would be beneficial to the South Asian people including Nepalis. 
Inaugurating an international conference on BRI organized jointly by the International Transport Association and Nepal Automobiles Association, Chairman Dahal said he was proud that Nepal signed the BRI project during his premiership. 
Nepal, as he said, has established peace and ensured political stability showing the path of development. “Although we spend two decades in political turmoil, our goal now is development,” he stressed. 
BRI is an ambitious project launched by the Chinese President, he said, adding that Nepal could reap huge benefits from it. “The BRI project helps Nepal realize its goal of ‘prosperous Nepal-happy Nepalis’.” 
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanchi, also argued that the BRI project would help strengthen relations between Nepal and China. 
Another speaker representing the organisers, Ananda Subedi, said the conference dwells thoroughly on road, transport and infrastructure development. 
The programme organizers shared that more than 140 persons from 12 countries are attending the conference to run for two days. 
Various development areas relating to BRI and Nepal are in the discussion agenda in the event.
