Two medical negligence cases registered against two hospitals in Kathmandu

Kathmandu : Two cases of medical negligence have been registered in the District Police Office in Kathmandu and Lalitpur on Thursday.

At a press conference organized in Kathmandu, Forum for Protection of Consumer Right’s Chairperson Jyoti Baniya shared that the families of patients duo Sudip Bista and Indra Kumari Rai have registered the complaints against Grande Hospital, Dhapasi and B & B Hospital, Lalitpur with the support of the Forum, demanding due compensation.

Sudip Bista died around a month ago while undergoing treatment at the Grande Hospital while Indra Kumari Rai’s health further deteriorated following treatment at the B&B Hospital at Gwarko some two years ago.

The families of both patients claimed that it was gross negligence on part of the hospitals that led to the unpleasant consequences.

The families of late Bista have demanded Rs 100 million in compensation from the Grande Hospital while Rs 10 million has been sought from the B &B Hospital as compensation for Indra Maya.

Forum Secretary-General Baburam Humagain blamed private hospitals of fleecing patients in the name of rendering health facilities.

It was shared that the Forum has so far registered more than 120 cases against various service providers for negligence and fraud. RSS
